Writing fun pieces people find engaging can sometimes be overlooked with the importance of breaking news. In today’s society, viewers turn to the internet and other people’s comments to base their thoughts on. Opinion-based articles can introduce a niche topic to their audience and find deeper meaning in something stigmatized as “stupid”. Giving my humorous analysis of Hallmark Christmas movies sheds light on a genre overlooked by many. Click here to read A Hallmark Christmas.

The infamous Taylor Swift lives in all of our minds, and she was certainly occupying mine as I awaited the drop of her album “Midnights”. I credit this story with getting me passionate about writing and was the first of many sleepless nights spent working on an article. Posted promptly the morning after her album’s release at midnight, I then understood what it takes to get quick coverage of events. As we brainstormed for an editorial for our Christmas issue my social justice club was brought up as we just completed a service project. The topic for our editorial was going to be about how students should do more than the bare minimum when it comes to meeting their service requirements so I tied that to how service has changed my life. A strong editorial strives to impact the student body by questioning an often overlooked or ignored premise.
